Shanghai Shenhua striker Teixeira injured in win over Zhejiang FC

BEIJING, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Joao Teixeira sustained a leg injury during Shanghai Shenhua's 4-0 victory over Zhejiang FC last weekend, the Shanghai club announced on Thursday.

The Portuguese striker was stretchered off in the second half of the Chinese Super League (CSL) match following a collision with a Zhejiang player.

"In the 71st minute of the CSL game against Zhejiang FC, Joao Teixeira was substituted after he felt muscular pain in the back of his left thigh," Shanghai Shenhua said in a statement.

Medical examinations conducted by the club's medical team confirmed that Teixeira suffered a minor ligament tear, according to the statement.

The timeline for his return will be determined based on the progress of his recovery, added the Shanghai club.
