SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- San Francisco-based Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) confirmed Tuesday morning that the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event is affecting approximately 172,000 customers in 22 counties across the U.S. state of California.
Customers in the Sierra Foothills, Northern Sierra and elevated North Bay terrain who were notified of an impending PSPS "are now without power," the company said.
