Firefighters save kitten trapped in drainage pipe in Alor Gajah

MELAKA: It turned out to be a happy ending for a mother cat after firefighters from Alor Gajah rescued its kitten from a drainage pipe.

Melaka Fire and Rescue Department's spokesman said the kitten was trapped in the drainage pipe at the Mara Building in Alor Gajah on Friday (April 12).

The spokesman said a team from Alor Gajah Fire and Rescue Department led by commanding officer Mohd Salehin Abd Ghani managed to rescue the kitten by using a rope.

He said a distress call was made by a member of the public at 4.30pm after hearing the mother cat's restless meowing and the rescue mission was completed within a few minutes.

"Ropes were used to save the kitten that was stuck in a 30.4cm deep pipe," the spokesman said.

The spokesman said the kitten was handed over to the mother cat before the firemen returned to the station.
