A STUDENT in Kedah who was kicked out of school for being absent for two months to care for his father was reinstated after intervention by MIC leaders, Makkal Osai reported.
Devan Raj Indran, 17, who is a student at a secondary school in Kulim, had to stay home to care for his paralysed father while his mother worked to feed the family.
When Devan Raj received a letter from the school informing him that he would be expelled, Kulim Bandar Baru MIC chief Jagdev Singh alerted Kedah MIC chief Datuk S. Ananthan who then told MIC president Tan Sri S. Vigeswaran about the matter.
Jagdev met with the school headmaster to explain the situation and requested that the youngster be reinstated.
The school accepted the request and Devan Raj returned to school on Jan 30.
