PETALING JAYA: A consultants association says they are willing to engage with the government to review the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme.
"Malaysia My Second Home Consultants Association (MM2HCA) looks forward to working closely with the government to support the development of a robust and successful MM2H programme that aligns with the changing dynamics of the global market and positions Malaysia as a preferred destination for a second home," its president Anthony Liew Yong Huat said in a statement on Wednesday (April 19).
He added they were willing to provide feedback based on its expertise and experience.
The statement came after the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry's statement on Tuesday (April 18) that the government would review the MM2H programme's requirements to make it more flexible.
Welcoming the announcement, Liew said the group, which represented licensed professional consultants, lauded the effort to make the program more flexible and accessible for future participants.
He said the association also welcomed the plan to create a one-stop centre under the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry to coordinate and streamline communication with various stakeholders, which would lead to better implementation of the programme.
Liew said the MM2H programme had been an essential contributor to the country's economy by attracting high net worth individuals from around the world.
This has provided benefits to various sectors including government, hospitality, industry, medical tourism, private education, real estate and financial institutions.
Earlier, the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry said the decision was reached after a meeting between its minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Ruji Ubi on Tuesday (April 18).
