KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has launched its Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) infoline to receive WhatsApp and SMS messages from the public.

Federal CCID director Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the infoline, with the number 013-2111222, will make it easier for the public to channel information, complaints and enquiries on commercial crimes.

"Anyone can use this medium to get verification on cases, check on police reports lodged and get updates on cases," he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 16).

The Star reported last month that Comm Mazlan and his department were making preparations to roll out the infoline.

Comm Mazlan is no stranger to the initiative as he launched a similar crime infoline in Selangor when he was the state police chief there.

"No voice calls will be received or made via this number, and it will operate between 8am and 12.30am daily. This is to allow for daily reports to be compiled on the CCID infoline," he said

"Feedback for information supplied, complaints lodged or enquiries will be given as soon as possible," he said.

Comm Mazlan said complaints must be made through a registered mobile phone number from a local telecommunication company.

He added that pranks would not be entertained and warned that the police could take action against anyone who gives false information.

"The validity of any information will be checked before any feedback is given. Information given must not be with ill intention or use foul language, and it must not be slanderous to any individual or organisation," he said.

Comm Mazlan also said all messages received would get the following message from the infoline:
"Sekiranya anda berurusan dengan mana-mana nombor akaun atau nombor telefon, anda boleh menyemak status keterlibatan jenayah sebelum melakukan tindakan selanjutnya, dengan melayari webportal mule JSJK di URL: http://ccid.rmp.gov.my/semakmule”.
