THE Dewan Rakyat was in stitches after a lawmaker proposed that a drama be made based on the antics that have taken place in the House.
It started when Datuk Seri Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) asked Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Eddin Syazlee Shith if RTM gave priority to purchasing local content produced by its own staff compared to external ones in the industry.
He then quickly said: “We have many fine actors in this Dewan.
“Jelutong is good; Kapar, Sungai Petani are all great ... even Kuala Krau is good!” referring to the constituencies’ MPs namely R.S.N. Rayer (PH), Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid (PH), Datuk Johari Abdul (PH) and himself.
“Our Dewan Rakyat Secretary (Datuk Roosme Hamzah) is also great, Mr Speaker,” he quipped.
“Not to forget, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof as the main actor,” he added, leaving the House in stitches.
To this, Eddin Syazlee said the matter was rather subjective.
“Unfortunately, I am not a director to judge the talents and ability of an actor.
“If you say that we have good actors, your side also has actors that aren’t too bad either,” he quipped, drawing laughter from other MPs.
In his reply, Eddin Syazlee said many of the films or dramas shown on RTM were produced by its own staff.
“We will not give priority to anyone and will give the opportunity to everyone in the industry,” he said.
