GEORGE TOWN: A total of 1,555 hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) cases were reported in Penang from January to July 4, a 48% increase compared to the same corresponding period last year.
Penang Health, Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry and Rural Development Committee chairman Dr Afif Bahardin said for the same period, there were also 53 nurseries, kindergartens and pre-schools where HFMD clusters were reported at their premises.
