No extra charge for card purchases, BNM tells retailers

KUALA LUMPUR: Retailers cannot impose surcharges for payments using debit and credit cards, says Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

“Consumers who encounter merchants who impose such surcharges are advised to lodge a complaint with their respective banks or payment card issuers,” it said.
