Johor to stringently monitor cyber cafes and video arcades to check illegal gambling

JOHOR BARU: In a bid to curb illegal gambling in the state, Johor will be more stringent about issuing licenses and monitoring cyber cafes and video arcades after recent raids discovered that 155 family entertainment outlets were involved in illegal gambling.

"The main problem is such operators apply for licenses to run a family entertainment outlet, which makes it hard for authorities to take action against them. The state government will tighten the regulations to ensure that illegal gambling den are a thing of the past," said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin on Thursday.
