Beauty with brains and talent

SOO Wincci is one beautiful woman who has earned a bachelor’s degree in Law and an MBA and is now studying for her PHD in Business Administration at Open University Malaysia.

The 26-year-old model, singer and actress from Petaling Jaya has brains to match her beauty.

She speaks fluent Japanese, Mandarin, English, French, Malay and Cantonese.

Beside singing and hosting events, she also finds time to compose songs.

After being crowned as Miss World Malaysia 2008, Wincci released her mini-album Soo Wincci last year.

In April this year, she released another album titled Ying Guang which is translated as “Wincci Shines.”

In addition to Chinese songs, the 10 tracks incluse an English number and a Malay song.

“My ambition is to be a singer or actress in Hollywood and I think I will get there someday,” said Wincci, who is enjoying her current life on the fab lane.

Wincci has always wanted to be a singer but her parents advised her to study first before she could do what she wanted.

“So, I decided to pursue my studies and then do what I love, which is singing.

“I have a drive to learn more things, like playing musical instruments, taking up self-defence and learning languages that will later help me in my career.

“My mother Ting Siew Boon supports and encourages me to try out new things,” said Wincci, who is the eldest in her family.

When asked where she likes to hang out, Winnci said her place to chill is at SS2 Murni Restaurant or Taman Tun Dr Ismail with her friends on weekdays.

“I studied in England and missed mamak food. Unlike abroad where restaurants close early, Malaysians can enjoy good food even at 2am and Kuala Lumpur is still lively in the wee hours of the morning.

“Another favourite hangout of mine is La Vein in Jalan Imbi, KL, where I can sit and chat with my friends for hours,” she said.

When it comes to partying, Wincci likes Zouk or she’ll kick back with a karaoke session at Red Box.

When asked about her personal life, Wincci said there was no one special at the moment as her career came first.

“If a guy does come along, I would look at his character. Firstly, he needs to be taller than me, must be understanding, not too childish, is loving and intelligent. I believe that in time, I will find the right person,” she said.

Wincci believes that life is too short and it should not be wasted.

“Some of my friends in their 20s have passed away due to critical illnesses and it saddens me.

“This is why I want to learn as much as I can. And learning and exploring new things keeps me going,” she said.
