WESAK Day is an occasion that commemorates the birth, enlightenment and parinirvana (passing) of the Buddha.

It is usually marked with activities such as lamp lighting, prayer chanting and devotees offering flowers, candles and alms to monks.

To purify the body, speech and mind, devotees also perform the symbolic ritual of Bathing the Buddha.

The Selangor government held its state-level Wesak Day 2024 celebration last weekend at PJ Kwan Inn Teng temple in Section 4, Petaling Jaya.

Present were Selangor state government leaders, PJ Kwan Inn Teng temple chairman Ven Ming Ji and representatives from other non-Islamic communities.

This year’s state-level Wesak Day celebration was themed “Harmonious Life, Prosperous Society”.
