Sepang council issues 30 notices to waste contractor for jobs undone

Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) is taking action against KDEB Waste Management following numerous complaints about the quality of its services in the area.

The council has issued 30 notices to correct (NTCs) to the company for failing to carry out its obligation as contracted.

MPSepang president Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain (pic) said 11 NTCs were for bulk waste collection and 19 were for general cleaning works.

“KDEB Waste Management was appointed to carry out cleaning work and is required to arrange for contractors and have its supervisors check on them.

“However, there are many complaints of poor services with regards to clearing of bulk waste and general cleaning,” he said.

Abd Hamid said the council had checked on complaints and where true, issued the NTC.

“Oftentimes, the complaint is resolved after the NTC is issued.

“Every NTC results in RM1,000 being deducted from the total payment due to KDEB,” he told StarMetro.

MPSepang councillor Vijayarany Arumugam said many complaints had been received in Sepang Putra.

“There are concerns that the supervisor tends to overlook work done by contractors,” she said during a council meeting.

Fellow councillor Norashikin Abd Halim said the situation was similar in Sungai Pelek.

“I live in Sungai Pelek. I have noticed rubbish cleared from the drains being left by the roadside and uncollected for days.

“When the grass is trimmed, the rubbish becomes visible but the contractor does nothing to clean it,” she said.

Norashikin added that she would write a complaint letter to MPSepang for the matter to be forwarded to KDEB.

Separately, Abd Hamid announced that MPSepang had developed an online system called MyMR for property owners to apply for small renovation permits.

The MyMR system for minor repairs went live on Nov 15, he said.

He said property owners could personally apply for permit for works such as putting up awnings, fences, garages and grilles with a payment of RM110.

“If all conditions are met, the permit will be issued immediately.

“It must be printed and pasted on the wall of the premises.”

The permit application can be accessed at https://myminor.mpsepang.gov.my/
