FOR the Chinese New Year celebrations this year, hotels in the city have come up with menus offering scrumptious meals. From the main course to dessert, the menus are fitting for the occasion.

Grand Paragon Hotel Johor Baru

The hotel is offering the auspicious Prosperity Fortune set menu, buffet dinner, buffet high tea and Japanese Shabu Shabu Steamboat set whereby family and friends can enjoy the food in their banquet area, Cafe Para Para, or at the Japanese Kishin-Tei Restaurant.

The special Prosperity Fortune set menu is available until Feb 19, and prices are between RM928 and RM1,588 per table.

Cafe Para-Para’s Chinese New Year eve buffet dinner is priced at RM118 (adults) and RM55 (for children aged five to 12 years old), served from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.

The buffet dinner will be served at a discounted price on Chinese New Year, at RM95 for adults and RM48 for children, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.

The CNY high tea will be served on Feb 5 and 6, priced at RM68 for adults and RM35 for children.

Guests can also enjoy a special Japanese Shabu Shabu Steamboat set for three to five person at RM168 until Feb 19, from 12pm to 10.30pm.

The hotel presents three set menus namely “Spring Bliss”, “Good Fortune”, and “Golden Treasures” for CNY whereby each set is for 10 persons and comes with prosperity Yee Sang treat.

Spring Bliss is priced at RM1,088 per table comprising Salmon Yee Sang, Braised Shark’s Fin with Crab Meat Soup, Smoked Duck Szechuan-style, Poached Prawns in Chinese Herbs Broth, Braised Ling Zhi Mushroom, Broccoli and Fresh Scallops, Lotus Leaf Rice with Salted Egg, and Fruit and Red Bean Mua Chi.

Good Fortune is priced at RM1,188 nett per table with delectable Abalone Yee Sang, Twin Happiness Seafood Soup, Chef Special Crispy Fried Chicken, Steamed Grouper Hong Kong-style, Crispy Prawns Clusters with Mayonnaise, Braised Fish Maw with Broccoli and Fresh Scallops, Fried Rice Seafood with Ebiko, and Fruit and Red Bean Mua Chi.

Meanwhile, Golden Treasures is priced at RM1,588, offering Abalone and Salmon Yee Sang, Four Treasures Seafood Soup, Deep-fried Boneless Chicken Leg with Thai Mango Sauce, Braised Crab Meat with Broccoli Egg White Sauce, Wok-fried Cod Fish with Soya King Sauce and Golden Garlic, Braised Ee-Fu Noodles with Shrimp Prawn and Green Chives, and Warm Chocolate Lava Cake.

For those who prefer buffet-style festive dining, Glass Restaurant offers Reunion Buffet Dinner on the eve of Lunar New Year at RM118 per adult and RM58 per child.

On the first day of Lunar New Year, there is a Buffet High Tea from noon till 4.30pm at RM68 per adult and RM38 per child as well as a Buffet Dinner at RM98 per adult and RM58 per child.

This venue has three different packages featuring a lavish selection of delicacies namely Fortune Package, Prosperity Package and Happiness Package at RM788, RM988 and RM1,288 respectively, for tables of 10 persons.

The delicacies range from Deep Fried Sea Bass with Seafood Thai Sauce, Treasure Box of Broccoli with Egg White, Steamed Red Snapper with Black Bean Sauce, Fried Rice with Shredded Smoked Duck, Steamed Grouper with Hong Kong Sauce to Crispy Chicken with Mango and Orange Sauce, Coriander Chili Crab with Mantou Bun.

The hotel’s restaurant is offering three different options featuring a lavish selection of delicacies namely Golden Dragon Set, Crimson Phoenix Set and Auspicious Set available until Feb 19.

Hotel guests have try a variety of Salmon Yee Sang with Caviar and can indulge in the hot and healthy Double Boiled Fish Soup with Ginseng and Snow Pear.

Visitors can also enjoy main courses from Steamed Red Snapper Nyonya Style or Steamed Live Tiger Grouper Hong Kong Style, Braised Abalone with Black Mushroom and Broccoli, Ying Yang Crispy Chicken and prawns cooked in a choice of three signature styles - Crispy Butter with Oatmeal, Pan Fried with Garlic and Salted Egg or Three Style Pan Fried.

The hotel is introducing a whole set of delightful CNY cuisine to usher in the Lunar New Year with families and friends.

The chef at Qing Palace Chinese Restaurant has come up with two special set menus for the eve of Chinese New Year as well as another three set menus available from the first day of Chinese New Year from Feb 5 to 19.

The menus are suitable for family reunions or gatherings with friends with dishes full of symbolic expressions of good fortune, prosperity, happiness, wealth and abundance for Chinese New Year.

In the menu for the Chinese New Year Eve Reunion Set Menu A, there are dishes such as Qing Palace Special Yee Sang (with royal abalone slices), braised shark’s fin soup with crabmeat, fresh scallops with greens and glutinous rice in lotus leaf.

Set Menu B features dishes such as Qing Palace Special Yee Sang (dried seafood), camphor and tea smoked duck, steamed cod fish Hong Kong-style, fried prawns with Szechuan chilli sauce, braised sea cucumber with black mushroom and greens, glutinous rice in lotus leaf and deep-fried nian gao.Guests may book for the 5.30pm session, 7pm session or 8pm session.

Qing Palace Chinese Restaurant is also offering three special eight-course set menus for lunch and dinner from Feb 5 to Feb 19, featuring dishes in the Chinese New Year set menu such as Qing Palace Special Yee Sang, braised shark’s fin soup with fish maw and crabmeat, fresh scallops with green vegetables and egg white, camphor and tea smoked duck and fried rice with olive.

All dishes at Qing Palace are pork-free. All prices are also subject to 6% service tax.

The all-day dining certified halal Cinta Terrace Restaurant at Pulai Springs Resort will also be offering Lunar New Year buffet and high tea.

The Chinese New Year Prosperity Reunion BBQ Nite Buffet available on Feb 4 priced at RM88 per adult and RM44 per child.
