Starchild: Malaysian kids share a special bond with their siblings

Lara Anneliese Alcantra, 8

Did you know that Siblings Day was celebrated on April 10? It is a special day to honour the special bond between brothers and sisters.

Siblings Day is also a day to appreciate and cherish the love and connection between siblings.

Misha Leon Murali, 7Misha Leon Murali, 7Although Siblings Day has passed, you can always show your appreciation to your siblings by giving them a big hug and telling them how much you love them. Maybe you could surprise them with a homemade card or a small gift to show how special they are to you.

Or you could spend quality time together as a family. You could plan a picnic in the park, go for a bike ride, or play your favourite games together. Remember, it’s not about how much money you spend, but the memories you create together.

Siblings Day is also a great opportunity to reflect on the importance of kindness and cooperation within our families.

Take some time to think about how you can support and encourage your siblings every day, not just on Siblings Day.

Maybe you could help them with their homework, share your toys, or simply lend a listening ear when they need it.

Did you know that having siblings can have a big impact on a person’s life?

Siblings can teach each other important social skills like sharing, cooperation, and conflict resolution.

Many famous siblings have left their mark on pop culture, from the Wright brothers, who invented the airplane, to the Jonas Brothers, a popular music band.

Recently Starchild asked readers to send in letters on the topic, Siblings Day. Here’s what they had to say.

“My brothers’ names are Luke and Sean. My sister’s name is Ella Anastacia. She is very naughty. I love them so much,” writes Lara Anneliese Alcantra, eight.

“Meet my younger brother, Mahendra Leon Murali. I love him so much and love sharing things with him,” writes seven-year-old Misha Leon Murali.

“I would like to thank my sister for helping me with Chinese, spelling, and for taking care of me both at home and in school. She is very kind and nice to me. My little brother Micah is very cute, sometimes he smiles at me and is very adorable when he is asleep. I love them very much,” says Asher Wang Qi Chuen, six.

Bethany Wang Qi Syuen, 9Bethany Wang Qi Syuen, 9Older sibling Bethany Wang Qi Syuen, nine, writes: “My brother Asher is a very funny and active boy, he likes to tell jokes, do kung fu moves, jump on furniture and play games on tablets. We have lots of fun together. My baby brother Micah will laugh when I make funny faces at him. I thank God for my brothers.”

“This is a special message to my sister Aarya Aditi. Since we love Octonauts, I wish to explore the ocean with you,” writes Siddharth Shanmugan, four.
