Indonesia's anti-terrorism unit says it is on high alert after Malaysia's Ulu Tiram police station attack

JAKARTA (Bernama): Indonesia’s anti-terrorism unit, Densus 88, has reaffirmed its commitment to vigilantly monitor terrorist activities in the country following a recent attack on a police station in Malaysia.

Its spokesperson, Commissioner Aswin Siregar, emphasised the unit’s unwavering dedication to tracking terrorist networks and their movements.

"Densus 88 remains steadfast in its readiness to closely monitor terrorist activities,” he said, as quoted by the news portal Kompas.com.

He assured the public that there has been no observed increase in the terrorist threat level in Indonesia based on the unit’s analysis.

On Friday, two police officers died and another was injured in an attack by a 21-year-old suspect at the Ulu Tiram Police Station in Johor, a state in southern Malaysia.

While there were initial suspicions of the Jemaah Islamiyah group’s involvement, it was revealed recently that the suspect’s actions were not linked to the group. - Bernama
