Laos reviews two rural development projects funded by S.Korea


VIENTIANE: The National Steering Committee Meeting for two rural development projects in Laos funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) has been held in the Lao capital Vientiane.

Speaking at a recent meeting, Lao Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Thongphath Vongmany said that Covid-19 and the ongoing financial crisis have had a severe impact on livelihoods and development in rural areas, resulting in continuing high poverty rates, according to a report issued on Friday (March 1) by the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Thongphath expressed his gratitude for the support from the South Korean government and Koica in trying to spur development at the grassroots level.

Koica is supporting the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to implement two rural development projects.

Also speaking at the meeting, South Korea's Ambassador to Laos Jung Yung Soo expressed hope that Koica's projects would bring about development in Laos. - Xinhua
