Hong Kong records 3,642 new Covid-19 cases, 10 deaths

HONG KONG (China Daily/Asia News Network): Hong Kong reported a total of 3,642 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday (Oct 5), a slight increase from Tuesday's 3,286, as well as 10 Covid-related deaths.

The new cases comprised 3,318 locally acquired infections and 324 imported cases, the Centre for Health Protection said in a statement.

The 10 new deaths brought the city’s toll during the fifth wave of Covid infections to 9,981.

In a separate statement, the Hospital Authority said there were 1,675 Covid-19 patients being treated in public hospitals, 182 of whom were newly admitted.

A total of 19 Covid patients were in serious condition and 36 in critical condition, which included 13 receiving intensive care, it added.
