AFTER two years of preparation, the Goods and Service Tax was finally implemented last week. This, of course, may be long overdue, as some 160 other countries, like our neighbours Singapore and Thailand, had implemented the tax long ago.
The implementation of GST should be seen as an important step in strengthening Malaysia’s economy whilst taking into account the interest of the rakyat. And with the nation’s inflation rate currently at the lowest in six years, the timing of the implementation couldn’t have been better.
