Singapore warns of high-speed rail project scams

SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has warned people of scammers using the KL-Singapore high-speed rail project to dupe victims.

In a Facebook post at 1.58pm on Wednesday (Oct 11), the agency said the scammers present fake contracts, bonds and drawings of construction works to lure unsuspecting victims into "investing" in their project.

The documents, they claimed, were issued from either Singapore or Malaysia.

"If anyone with such documents contacts you to request for a transfer of money, please make a police report immediately," said the LTA.

The 350km high-speed rail, which will cut travel time between the two cities to 90 minutes, is targeted to be operational by end-2026. - The Straits Times/Asia News Network
