Students unharmed in bus fire

Six Universiti Teknologi Malaysia students escaped unharmed after their school bus caught fire in the campus, China Press reported.

The incident took place at around 10am on Wednesday when the students heard a loud bang while on board the vehicle.

They looked out the window and saw that one of the tyres was on fire before rushing out of the bus.

Skudai fire station chief Saifulbahari Safar said the bus was on its campus route when it caught fire.

The driver immediately stopped to inspect the vehicle, he said.

“He tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher but failed,” he said.

Even though 40% of the bus were damaged, no one was injured in the incident, he said.
