Teen found drowned near Port Dickson jetty


PORT DICKSON: A 17-year-old student who fell into the sea while fishing was found drowned near the Kg Gelam fishermen's jetty.

Port Dickson Fire and Rescue Department senior operations commander Mohd Kamal Mohd Timar said his team received a call about the incident around 7.30pm on Sunday (March 2).

Rescue teams, including the department's water rescue unit, were immediately dispatched for a search and rescue mission.

"Rescue teams used a boat and two kayaks to scour the area," he said.

"The boy's remains were found about 50m from where he had fallen around 12.30am and were then handed over to the police after medical personnel confirmed the victim had drowned," he added.

The victim was identified as A. Pavithran from Lukut.
