Two workers injured in Bukit Mertajam warehouse fire


GEORGE TOWN: Two workers were injured when a recycling warehouse caught fire at Kampung Bagan Nyior, Bukit Mertajam on Thursday (March 7) morning.

A Penang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victims sustained burns to 5% of their bodies

"A team of firefighters from the Prai, Bandar Perda and Batu Kawan fire stations were dispatched to the location after receiving a call about the incident," he said in a statement on Thursday (March 7).

The spokesman said upon arrival, the firemen found that most of the 80x80 sq ft warehouse was damaged by the fire.

He said the victims were given initial treatment by the medical team at the scene.
