Indonesian bomoh nabbed for allegedly raping woman during ‘treatment’

SIBU: A bomoh was arrested for allegedly raping a woman who sought his treatment for stomach pain.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Saiful Bahri Abdullah said the 29-year Indonesian suspect was detained in Tatau about 90 minutes drive from here while he was selling vegetables.

The alleged rape took place on Tuesday morning at the 20-year old victim's house in Sibu Jaya after her mother had called the bomoh to treat the girl.

The mother was familiar with the bomoh as she had previously sought treatment from him for body aches.

The treatment was done in a room at the house in the presence of her mother and an auntie.

ACP Saiful said after massaging the girl's stomach and inserting his finger into the victim's vagina, the bomoh told the mother that the girl was no longer a virgin.

The bomoh then asked the victim to go into the bathroom to take a bath. The girl declined at first but later did as she was told out of fear that her mother would be angry.

It was in the bathroom that the bomoh raped her.

The victim sought treatment at the Sibu Hospital and was advised by doctors to make a police report.
