PETALING JAYA: An accident involving a tanker lorry carrying 25,000 litres of acid chemicals have caused the closure of the PLUS highway near Senawang toll on Saturday.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the tanker lorry collided with a car at KM251.6 of the PLUS highway near the entrance of the Senawang toll.
In the 3.22am incident, the tanker lorry driver, in his 30s, was killed while two female victims travelling in the car suffered serious injuries.
The women, both in their 30s, were rescued from the wreckage and sent to the nearest hospital for treatment.
A PLUS highway spokesperson confirmed that the highway is currently closed in both directions for clean-up operations by the hazardous materials unit.
As of 10.28am, traffic is still slow in both directions near the Senawang toll.
Motorists heading south will have to exit Senawang and enter at Pedas Linggi.
Meanwhile, motorists heading north will have to exit at Pedas Linggi and enter at Senawang.
