Woman stabs herself during quarrel with teen lover

ALOR SETAR: A 25-year-old divorcee accidentally stabbed herself in the chest during a heated quarrel with her 16-year-old boyfriend at her rented house at Taman Desa in Kubang Rotan near here.

Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rozi Jidin said the incident occurred at about 4am on Saturday.

“The victim’s step-father rushed her to the hospital after being told of the incident from the boyfriend.

“We arrested the suspect at about 7.15pm at an unnumbered house in Kampung Keloncor,” he said.

ACP Mohd Rozi said the suspect, who tested positive for methamphetamine, was also injured during the quarrel.

He is on remand for four days until Wednesday.

The victim, who was helping her mother sell nasi lemak and kuih, said her boyfriend suspected her of having an affair.

“He got mad and started to beat me up after he saw my previous messages with a man on my handphone.

“I then ran to the kitchen to grab a knife to protect myself. In a brief struggle, I accidentally stabbed myself,” the woman said at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
