FGV changes won’t affect probe

KUANTAN: The latest development in Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) will not affect the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commis­sion’s (MACC) investigation into improprieties in the company.

Its chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad said MACC’s investigation was separate from arrangements between the Government and FGV.

“We are not tied down to any time frame.

“Our investigation depends on the progress in getting statements and evidence.

“After that, we will submit our papers to the Attorney-General for further action.

“My officers are working hard on this investigation during this fasting month.

“We have already recorded statements from 60 witnesses,” he said after witnessing the Pahang government signing a corruption-free pledge here yesterday.

Dzulkifli was asked about MACC’s investigation into FGV following the resignation of its chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad.

Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob has been named FGV acting chairman while Isa is now the acting chairman of the Land Public Transport Commission.

Asked whether Isa should take leave of absence while the investigation was ongoing, Dzulkifli said it would be up to the Government.

“But none of it will affect our investigation,” he said.

MACC officers had earlier seized documents related to the FGV impropriety case and recorded a statement from suspended FGV president and chief executive officer Datuk Zakaria Arshad.

At the ceremony yesterday, Dzulkifli said Pahang was the ninth state government to take up the corruption-free pledge.

“I appreciate the support of all state governments in the fight against corruption.

“With such a great momentum, I expect we will achieve our vision of a country free of corruption and abuse of power, with a society that is brave enough to say no to corruption,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony were Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, state secretary Datuk Seri Muhammad Safian Ismail, state exco members and government officials.

Dzulkifli also witnessed the signing of the pledge by the Pahang Football Association.
