Hazani takes over as Esscom chief

KOTA KINABALU: An elite commando is taking over as Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) chief.

Datuk Hazani Ghazali, who headed Bukit Aman's Special Action Unit (UTK), has taken over from Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid as Esscom's commanding officer.

Hazani, 52, joined the UTK in 1989. He has also served in Sabah in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and was an officer in the General Operations Force Northern Brigade in Pahang.

The handing over of duties took place before Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman in Sandakan on Monday.
