KUALA LUMPUR: Police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have been asked to investigate the people behind the spread of photographs of individuals resembling DAP's Zairil Khir Johari and Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud on social media.
Umno grassroots movement Malaysia (Gaum) chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said the investigation should be conducted to clear the Barisan Nasional and Umno which had been implicated and accused of spreading the images with the intention to discredit the two involved.
"I am very sure that it is not from Umno or BN. In the general election we fight against DAP using facts.
"Maybe the enemies of Zairil (Bukit Bendera MP) who did this, so we want the police and MCMC to investigate," he said after lodging a police report over the spreading of the photographs at the Sri Petaling police station here.
He said both Zairil and Dyana Sofya (former DAP candidate in Teluk Intan by-election) should come forward as everybody wanted to know the truth whether the images were fake or otherwise.
"Zairil should come forward to lodge a police report, and I personally agree with Dyana Sofya that the dissemination of the pictures was a violation of individual rights and should not happen.
"If the images are not fake, admit it and get married, so we can close this controversy and Umno shouldn't continue to be blamed in this issue," he said.
A few days ago, intimate pictures allegedly of Dyana and Zairil had gone viral on social media. - Bernama
