Teenager claims she was assaulted at rehab school

MALACCA: A 16-year-old resident of a rehabilitation school for girls at Tanjung Kling here claimed she was assaulted by her seniors.

The girl from Raub, Pahang, alleged that three of her hostel mates had inserted a deodorant bottle into her vagina at about 5pm on Sunday.

The girl alleged that the trio dragged her while she was having her bath before they assaulted her.

State Welfare Department director Burhanuddin Bachik said the girl alleged that her assailants gagged her when she brought the matter to the welfare officer at the home.

A report was later lodged at the Batang Tiga police station on the same day.

“The welfare officer has advised her to lodge a police report and we have left it to the police to investigate her allegation,” he said when contacted Monday, adding that the victim has identified the assailants.

The Welfare Department is managing the school for juveniles here where residents are imparted with skills training.

On the allegation made by Welfare and Social Organisation (Perbak) president Muhammad Khairul Hafiz that he has new evidence on alleged sexual assault of orphans at a home for boys in Durian Daun here, Burhanuddin said he will leave it to the police to investigate.

He said the department has been transparent and did not hide any wrongdoings.

“He (Muhammad Khairul) should hand over the purported new evidence to the police for them to investigate," he said.

Muhammad Khairul lodged a police report at the Kempas police station on Monday, claiming that he has new evidence, including a voice recording of a former employee who admitted to sexually assaulting the residents of the home.

Muhammad Khairul also alleged that he was sodomised while he was a resident at the home from 1999 to 2004.
