PETALING JAYA: The road to recovery is a long one for the workers who were injured in the pedestrian bridge collapse near Mid Valley Megamall on Jalan Kampung Haji Abdullah Hukum.
The RM7mil pedestrian bridge linking the planned KL Eco City project to the Gardens Shopping Mall in Mid Valley, which was still under construction, collapsed and killed one worker and injured five others on Wednesday.
On Friday, a check on 23-year-old Pakistani national, Rais Aman Majid, who had his leg amputated after he was found trapped under the rubble, showed that he was still in a lot of pain.
A medical staff at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, where Rais is being treated, said that he was heavily sedated to help cope with the pain and was too weak to speak.
"However, he is not in critical condition," said the staff.
Vietnamese Tran Van Hai, 29, however, was still in the Intensive Care Unit since suffering head and arm injuries during the incident.
A few friends who visited him said that he was conscious and able to talk.
Van Hai's younger brother, Xuan Vang, 21, died in the incident and is due for a post-mortem.
Other workers who were injured during the collapse were Vietnamese Luong Van Guyet, Bangladeshi MD Jashim and Indonesian Nor Syamsi.
