Militants miss ‘nasi lemak’


KUALA LUMPUR: They left their homes to join the Islamic State (IS) in Syria but the allure of martyrdom and glory seems to have worn off for some of them – some Malaysians and Indonesians are missing their comfort food of nasi lemak and sambal in the starkness of reality.

Counter-terrorism expert Noor Huda Ismail, who met these young men while making a documentary on the lives of a few militants, said some Malaysian and Indonesian fighters now wish to return home.
