MACC arrests two policemen over RM500 bribe

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Agency (MACC) has detained two police corporals on Saturday for accepting a RM 500 bribe to release an ice lorry.

The lorry had been detained for not having a valid road tax.

Both police corporals – aged 52 and 56 years old – allegedly received the bribe at the Jalan Muthu Palaniappan bus stop on Friday.

The offence falls under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Act.

When contacted, Penang MACC director M. Samarajoo confirmed the arrests but declined to elaborate further.
