Man refuses to bathe, wife tells cops

A WOMAN in Uttar Pradesh, India, caused a stir at the local police station when she lodged a report against her husband for refusing to bathe for more than once a year, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The couple, who live in a village in the north of the state, married two years ago.

She said that since then, her husband had refused to shower regularly.

“He goes for months without showering and his bad body odour makes it impossible to go near him,” she complained.

She said her in-laws scolded her when she complained to them. The man had last showered for the Holi festival last month.

> Unknown persons set fire to a former Klang city councillor’s car in Kampung Jawa, Klang, in the wee hours of Friday, Tamil dailies reported.

S. Shobana, a one-term councillor in 2015, said she and her eldest son were awoken by their neighbours’ shouts of “fire”.

She said when she went out she saw her car burning. She put out the fire with neighbours’ help but the car was badly burnt.

Someone was said to have started the fire by throwing petrol bombs at the car.

Shobana said she suspected the incident was connected to her proposed re-appointment as councillor this year, which was being delayed by certain parties.

She said at the time of the incident, her husband V. Thinagar was with their second son, who was in hospital with a high fever.

She said they had lived there for 20 years and never had problems with residents. The couple lodged a report at the Shah Alam police station.
