Too close for comfort: A group of the residents staging their banner protest against the planned hotel at the site.

GEORGE TOWN: Plans for a three-star 15-storey hotel on a strip of land believed to be less than 0.5ha in Batu Ferringhi have raised the ire of nearby residents.

They received notices from Penang Island City Council (MBPP) last November that a developer had submitted plans to build the seaside hotel on the site wedged between Batu Ferringhi Army camp and Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa.
