Selangor PAS respects Azmin's decision to appoint state councilors from Amanah

PETALING JAYA: Selangor PAS says that it respects the decision by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali to appoint state council members from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

Selangor PAS secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said on Wednesday that although PAS does not recognise Amanah and does not have any relations with the party, they understand the dilemma faced by Azmin.

He added that this however did not mean that his party is changing its stand towards Amanah, which he said had “betrayed” and continues to attack PAS.

Khairuddin took the opportunity to thank Azmin for not reducing the number of PAS state council members, despite being urged to do so by Amanah, and he expressed his hope that PAS village heads will also be allowed to remain in office.

“May the close cooperation between PAS and Azmin continue for the welfare of the people of Selangor,” he said.

On Wednesday, Amanah was allotted eight local council seats under the new Selangor state councillors' list.

The seats have been allocated for a two year term that begins on Jan 15, 2016 and ends on Dec 31, 2017.
