Woman falls to death while cleaning stairs

A WOMAN, who was cleaning the railing of the staircase in her house, slipped and fell to her death from the third to the ground floor, major Chinese dailies reported.

Hou Cui-E, 45, was believed to be doing her household chores on Saturday afternoon when she lost her balance, China Press reported.

Her two children, aged 12 and 19, rushed out from their rooms in their house in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, after hearing a loud thud.

They found their mother lying in a pool of blood.

Hou’s husband, who reached home after picking up their eight-year-old son from a tuition centre, called for an ambulance.

However, she was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers.

> Malaysian actress Tiffany Leong, who was reported by China Press to have been diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) in 2013, died yesterday following treatment at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur after she suffered a relapse recently.

The 30-year-old Leong, who is also known as Zhuo Qi, had earlier this year resumed her acting career after taking a two-year break. However, an infection forced her to stop working again.

In cases of MEN, patients may have a situation where one or more of their endocrine glands are overactive.

Leong’s family members and her showbusiness friends had been visiting her but the actress succumbed to her illness in the end.

> Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported that Hong Kong actress Sherming Yiu Lok Yee delivered a baby girl last Tuesday.

The 37-year-old artiste shared the good news on her Weibo site. Yiu, who married to Alan Wu in 2012, named her baby girl Gaibe.
