HATYAI: A 10-year-old Malaysian boy who was believed to have sleep-walked, plunged to his death from a hotel here.

Fam Song Heng from Malacca fell from the sixth floor of the Asia Grand Hotel at Chayakul Street in Hatyai City, Songkhla, at about 2.20am yesterday.

His body was found on a parking lot in the back of the hotel building, according to the police officer-in-charge Captain Kittitas Numuang.

He said initial examination by a doctor at the Hatyai Hospital found Fam sustained a fractured spine and head injuries.

Police believed Fam had sleep-walked before falling off the building.

Prior to the incident, the boy was sleeping with his grandmother and brother in a room on the sixth floor while his parents stayed on the third floor of the hotel.

Fam’s family only learnt of the incident after being alerted by hotel staff.

One of the family members said Fam, with six other family members, were on vacation here and were expected to return to Malaysia yesterday. — Bernama
