KUALA LUMPUR: A gentle birthing advocacy group does not support unassisted childbirths at home, saying it was important to have a qualified medical professional present should things go wrong.
“Many times a healthy mother will give birth to her babies without a hitch, but sometimes things go wrong and immediate medical care is needed, which is not available in an unassisted birth,” said Nadine Ghows of The Gentle Birthing Group Malaysia which provides a support network for mothers wanting a gentle birth.
