The pros and cons of an open book exam


I REFER to the article “Mastering open book exams” (StarSpecial, Sept 25) where the author Ellen Whyte states that open book exams are tough because examiners know you’re double-checking your facts, so they up the odds by asking complex questions.

I fully agree with the author as I have experienced open book exams for my Masters’ papers done by a United Kingdom university.
