TV host makes the news

MASS Communication students at KDU College Petaling Jaya had a Malaysian media personality in their news writing class recently.

Low Ngai Yuen, a producer, director, writer, television host and DJ, was there to conduct a mock press conference with the students.

Low answering the questions of KDU students during a mockpress conference.

She gave students an insight into the entertainment business and behind-the-scene work.

The students asked her many questions to learn more about what one needs to do in order to succeed in the industry.

Low said persistence was a key factor in allowing her to realise her dreams.

“One has to be passionate about the work done in this industry to sustain oneself,” she added.

On her personal experience in the media industry, Low elaborated on how she became one of the hosts of the women's television programme 3R.

The programme introduced her to the public and led her to other opportunities in the industry.

She also explained how she got involved in directing episodes of the show, and eventually moving on to directing films.

Low also wrote and directed a play called The Girl from Ipoh, a comedy staged in 2005.
