KUALA LUMPUR: Etiqa stamped its mark as the best multi-channel distributor of insurance and Takaful products when it won three awards recently in Hong Kong, London and Kuala Lumpur.

It said on Thursday it was adjudged Malaysia’s Insurance Company of the Year for General Insurance, an inaugural award from the Asset Triple A Asset Servicing, Institutional Investor and Insurance Awards 2018 in Hong Kong.

In London, Etiqa’s Takaful business clinched the award – Best Takaful Company, Malaysia – at the International Takaful Awards 2018.

Back home, Etiqa’s General Takaful business was named Malaysia’s Best Islamic Takaful Institution at the Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Awards 2018.

The chairman of Etiqa General Takaful Bhd and Etiqa Family Takaful Bhd Datuk Majid Mohamad expressed his elation at Etiqa being recognised as Malaysia’s Best Takaful Company at the International Takaful Awards 2018.

“There’s no prouder moment for me than this, being able to fly the Malaysian flag here in London with this award in hand.  Winning this award is proof that putting people first, is not only a formula for success but makes absolute business sense,” he said.

Sharing the joy about the winning of the awards were Etiqa General Takaful Bhd CEO Zaharudin Daud and  Etiqa General Insurance Bhd CEO Fukhairudin Mohd Yusuf.

In a joint statement, they said were delighted and honoured that Etiqa, as a home-grown outfit, was named not only the Best Islamic Takaful Institution for General Takaful in Malaysia from the Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Awards 2018, but also for being the first insurer to receive the Insurance Company of the Year, General Insurance in Malaysia from the Asset Triple A Asset Servicing, Institutional Investor and Insurance Awards.

“Winning these awards is testimony that our organisational culture and brand promise of being Fast & Easy is not just a tagline, but that we are able to deliver a Fast & Easy experience, whether it is to purchase, submit claims or receive payouts.

“It is also an honour that the broader financial community, as represented by the Asset awards, has come to recognise Etiqa’s offerings and financial strength,” they said.

Etiqa's brand promise of being Fast & Easy stems from its commitment to spread the message on the importance of having protection to mitigate both the emotional and financial burden that people might face due to unexpected events. Almost half of the Malaysian population are being underserved.

For FY ended Dec 31, 2017, Etiqa Group Insurance & Takaful's profit before tax surpassed the RM1bil mark for the first time to reach RM1.01bil. This was an increase of 18.5% from RM855mil in FY16.
