Natasha going for podium in MSS race

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Super Series (MSS) car competition will enter its final round at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend with the premier GT class championship going down to the wire.

Only 16 points separate Hong Kong-based Angus Kirkwood and local girl Natasha Seatter in the race for the GT class crown.

Kirkwood leads the standings with 76 points, with Natasha having 60. Another Hong Kong-based driver, Noel Becker, is third with 41 points after four rounds.

“Although the title is still mathematically possible, it will be very difficult. It’s for Angus to lose rather than for us to win it,” said Natasha.

“My sole objective is to drive the car to a podium finish because it has been a frustrating season thus far.”

A graduate of the Petronas Formula Xperience programme, 19-year-old Natasha is the first female Malaysian to compete in the Formula BMW in 2010 before becoming the first female ever to win a race in the Middle East (Abu Dhabi) in February 2012 at the Formula FG1000 Gulf Series, which she eventually won that year.

Niggling reliability problems with the Radical SR8 car in the MSS have dented Natasha’s championship plans.

She failed to score any points in the previous two rounds due to technical problems, despite starting strongly by winning the first two rounds.

“I will be pushing hard as usual. This round will be dedicated to the team,” said the teenager.
