Malaysian docs join global outcry

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian medical fraternity has joined the rest of the world in decrying the massive increase in the price of Daraprim, a drug that treats parasitic infection, as outrageous.

Universiti Malaya medical faculty dean Prof Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman said the drug or its generic name, pyrimethamine, was used for treatment of toxoplasmosis, a parasitic infection that people with HIV and other immuno-suppressed conditions could get.
