KUALA LUMPUR: MCA will strongly oppose the rally organised by a Malay-based non-governmental organisation on Sept 16.

President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic) said such an event would destroy the peace and harmony and Malaysia has no room for religious extremism.

I urge the police to take the appropriate actions to stop the rally and ensure the stability of the country, Liow said at the Federal Territories MCA annual general assembly here Sunday morning.

It was reported that the rally, dubbed the red-shirt rally, would start at Low Yat Plaza in Bukit Bintang. The rally was to counter the Bersih 4 rally last weekend.
