KUALA LUMPUR: Forcing telecommunication companies to absorb the Goods and Services Tax (GST) for prepaid reloads will send the wrong message to local and foreign investors on GST implementation in Malaysia.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek (pic) said it was not fair to demand that telcos absorb the GST cost the same way they used to absorb the Sales and Services Tax (SST).
