GEORGE TOWN: DAP leaders are angry and feel betrayed by PAS' move to pass the amendments to Kelantan's Syariah Criminal Code II 1993, said Lim Guan Eng.

In his first public response on the matter, the DAP secretary-general said PAS' hudud has brought a step closer to the break up of Pakatan Rakyat.

“We will hold an emergency central executive committee meeting on Monday to discuss our position vis-à-vis PAS.

“The leadership will allow national and state leaders to express their views on this matter privately or publicly,” said Lim, who is also Penang Chief Minister, in a statement here on Friday.

Lim slammed PAS leaders for their “dishonesty, deceit and treachery” by turning their back on Pakatan.

“Such acts of betrayal by Kelantan PAS and some national PAS leaders may have also sealed the fate of Pakatan.

"At the same time, any remaining non-Muslim support for PAS has completely disappeared,” he said.

Lim claimed PAS had decided to throw its lot with Umno despite knowing that the passage of hudud would jeopardise Pakatan’s future.
