KUALA LUMPUR: It looks like a car but United States media calls it a tank aka The Beast – a formidable mobile fortress designed to protect US President Barack Obama on the road.
The Secret Service rolled out Cadillac One on Jan 20, 2009 and was first seen ferrying Obama to his inauguration in Washington D.C. Each US President has had an official car since 27th President William Howard Taft replaced the horse-drawn buggy with a steam-powered Baker Electric.
Office of Protective Operations assistant director Nicholas Trotta described the RM970,000, 7.5 tonne The Beast as “the most technologically advanced protection vehicle in the world.”
