Daughter of missing chief steward receives touching tweet from Liverpool FC

PETALING JAYA: British Premier League side Liverpool has sent a message to the daughter of MH370’s chief steward Andrew Nari, telling her that she would never walk alone.

“Just to let you know that we are thinking of your father and all those still missing from flight #MH370 Be strong. YNWA,” the club tweeted to Maira Elizabeth Nari.

Maira had sent out a tweet on Sunday, saying: “Daddy, Liverpool is winning the game. Come home, so you can watch the game! You never miss watching the game. It’s your very first time.”

The post was retweeted by thousands of fans before the club picked it up and put it on their website.

Her tweet referred to Liverpool’s 3-0 win over rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Andrew is said to be a staunch Liverpool supporter.

Fans of the club – as well as other football clubs – also tweeted their support for Maira.

Jay N Aie Schiller said this was a time for everybody to hold hands and not walk alone.

“I can assure you too that there are probably a few Manchester United supporters on the flight as well as Chelsea, Arsenal ... Asia is just as crazy about football as Europe/South America.

“May all of you never walk alone regardless of the outcome of this incident and you are heavy on our thoughts, YNWA,” he said.

Norwegian Inge-Martin Eikemo said he would pray for all those on board flight MH370.

“I am a Liverpool fan myself and have two daughters and never miss a game.

“So this touches my heart deeply,” he said.

Smart Chuks said he had never been this touched by any post before, and hoped that her dad would find his way home soon.

Bayar Tarik Fattah said Maira’s tweet was absolutely heartbreaking to read.

“I can’t imagine anything worse than not being able to see your dad.

“This really touches my heart because I always watch football with my daddy,” she said.

Richard Finnigan tweeted: “From everyone living in England and Liverpool, we are all thinking of you. You will never walk alone and hope is never lost. YNWA.”

The tweet was also posted on the official Liverpool FC Facebook page, and has been shared 7,000 times.
