KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale hit the southern part of Kermadec Islands in New Zealand on Sunday.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement stated the quake's epicentre was 781km north-east of Tauranga, New Zealand.
